FIRST TIME IN ITALY —
For Those Who Refuse to Travel Like Everyone Else
YOUR FIRST ITALY TRIP
— too important to spend it like anyone else
Your first time in Italy is important. The trip has been forming in your mind for a while. A city you keep returning to in research. A history you want to explore, food and wine you genuinely want to taste, a pace of life that slows everything down. The pieces are there. Rome, Venice, the Amalfi Coast, the Dolomites, Florence. But turning them into a trip that actually works, that feels like yours and not like the itinerary everyone else follows, is a different problem.
And that is usually the moment you arrive here. Not because you lack ideas. Because the research keeps giving you the same answers. The same cities in the same order. The same version of Italy that a hundred thousand people before you have already done. Your first Italy trip deserves more than that. And you already know it.
YOUR FIRST TIME IN ITALY hasn't BEEN PLANNED AROUND YOU YET.
When you research your first trip to Italy, what you find is the same route presented a hundred different ways. Rome first, Florence second, Venice third. Three nights here, two nights there. The Colosseum on day two. The Uffizi on day five. A gondola on the Grand Canal somewhere near the end. It looks like a plan, and that is the problem. Every version of it was built for a general idea of a first-time visitor, an average of everyone who has ever searched the same thing. Which means it was never built for you. Your interests are not the same as the next person’s. Neither is your pace, your sense of what matters, or what you actually want to feel at the end of it. So no matter how much you read, nothing quite fits. That is not your research failing. It is that none of it was ever designed for you in the first place.
I PLAN AROUND you, NOT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES.
Most first-time Italy trips start with a list of places and work backwards from there. Three nights in Rome, two in Florence, two in Venice. The sequence is decided before anyone has asked what you actually want from the trip. I work from the opposite end. I start with you. What genuinely interests you, how you like to travel, what pace feels right, whether the Colosseum matters to you or whether your Rome looks completely different from everyone else’s. Then I build the trip around that.
A family planning their first time in Italy needs a completely different trip from a couple celebrating a honeymoon, an anniversary, or simply a long-held plan finally made real. Same country, same iconic places, entirely different trip. That is the point.
The rest is pace and order. A first Italy trip has more moving parts than it looks from the outside. The sequencing of cities, the nights in each place, the logistics between them, the things that need booking months in advance and the things that should stay open. Get those details wrong and you lose days, not hours. Get them right and you never think about them at all. That is what I handle. You arrive, and no one else can take that same trip, because it was planned for you.
THE PART THAT makes A FIRST ITALY TRIP WORK.
However well a first Italy trip is planned, things on the ground can shift. A weather change, a day that needs reworking, the kind of detail that no amount of planning can fully predict. For someone managing all of this alone in an unfamiliar country for the first time, that is when the trip starts working against you.
That moment does not become yours to solve. I plan for the things that can change, and when something does, I handle it while it is happening. You are not the ones making calls or reworking the day. You stay in your trip, and the adjustment happens somewhere you do not have to see it.
This is what you are actually paying for. Not a longer itinerary or a fuller schedule, but the freedom to be completely present in Italy, knowing that whatever happens around you, the trip you planned for still arrives.
"I messed up the time to attend the Colosseum and we should have missed the attraction altogether because we were running half an hour late. But Vanya came to the rescue and called the guide who organised a rescheduled time. Without her assistance we would not have been able to attend and would have been very disappointed."
