From stress to a "relaxed family holiday."

"Vanya made our trip to Italy unforgettable by taking away all the stress. She provided a perfectly curated itinerary tailored for the whole family with the perfect mix of sightseeing and fun activities for the children. The holiday was pieced together with everything pre-thought of - even walking routes and places to eat. All activities already thought of and booked - we just showed up, snorkelling & horse riding, gelato making, a guided child friendly tour of the Colosseum, picnic in the countryside, evenings in the town with the funfair, finished of with a day at the water park. The attention to detail and easy use of the itinerary made it possible for us all to have a relaxed family holiday!!

The Truth About 'Failed' Family Vacations

Ever returned from a 'vacation' more exhausted than when you left? If your past family trips have felt stressful and disconnected…

…it wasn't a failure of your love or effort. It was a failure of the travel approach.

Before being a family travel curator, I am first and foremost a mother of two. This role is my true compass. My own family’s trips throughout Italy revealed a profound truth: travelling as a family, whether with little ones or grown children, is not a limitation.

It is your greatest superpower for building a lasting family legacy.

Over the years, I learned that the most valuable souvenir you can bring home from Italy isn’t a magnet or a photo. It’s a renewed sense of family connection, forged far from the countless distractions of daily life.

A thoughtfully curated family trip to Italy presses pause on the relentless routine of school, work, and screens. It changes your rhythm. It’s in these shared moments, even the simple ones, that your family dynamic can rediscover its deep bond.

You don’t need a “Better” itinerary.

You need a Better philosophy.

This is where I developed my framework…

Family travel isn't a vacation from your life.
It's an intentional investment in your family's future story.

The goal is not merely to see Italy, but to experience it together—and in doing so, to create something unique and priceless as a family.

  • Replacing the passive consumption of digital screens with the active, shared pleasure of collective family moments.
  • Transitioning from a state of constant ‘what if’ anxiety to one of relaxed confidence, knowing every detail is expertly managed.
  • Transforming from a family that coordinates schedules to a team that shares moments and discoveries.

But if this is so straightforward, why do most family trips feel more stressful than transformative?

The answer is simple: chaos. The chaos of endless planning, the burden of logistical details, and the lack of a curated plan designed specifically for your family’s unique rhythm and identity. This chaos traps you in “manager mode,” preventing you from ever truly settling into the moment.

My role is to eliminate that chaos. This means I handle the intricate details that drain your time and consume your energy-from vetting the perfect accommodations and designing experiences that reflect your family’s unique identity, to orchestrating seamless transitions between destinations. By architecting moments of effortless connection amidst Italy’s beautiful landscapes, warm culture, and living history, I create the conditions for your family to explore a version of Italy crafted exclusively for you.

You’ll return with a reinforced family bond and those priceless “remember when…” stories you’ll share for years to come.

What working with me actually gives your family

Not a better itinerary. A completely different experience of planning and travelling.

Every family member genuinely captivated - not just present

The fear with any family trip is that someone checks out. A teenager who disengages on day three. A younger child who cannot sustain the pace. A parent who never gets a moment of beauty because they are managing everyone else. I design around every person in the group individually - their age, their energy, what genuinely excites them - so the trip works for all of them simultaneously. Not as a compromise. As a design.

The Italy you imagined - not the Italy everyone else gets

Most families who come to me have already tried researching. They found the same sites, the same tours, the same restaurants that appear on every list. What I bring is a decade of on-the-ground Italy knowledge and a network of suppliers, guides and properties. The routing I build will take your family somewhere they could not have found themselves, and will feel like Italy was made specifically for them.

Complete presence — from the moment you arrive

Every detail is handled before you travel. The accommodation, the transfers, the guides, the reservations, the logistics your family would never know to think about. You receive a complete day-by-day itinerary document and direct access to me throughout the trip. Most families never need to contact me while they are away. That is exactly what I am aiming for — a trip so well prepared that your only job is to be there for each other.

Beautiful level of service and care.

"Vanya and the team are absolutely incredible. The level of care, attention to detail and crafting to your exact desires is unparalleled to any travel planner I have ever worked with. All the endless web searches for activities, restaurants and accommodation are gone. The personalised itinerary and contact to check how you're doing really brings such a beautiful level of service. Thank you again for our amazing 10 days across Italy, where everything was taken care of."

Why families come back to me, year after year

I came to Milan in 2010 for what was supposed to be a month. Fifteen years later, I am still here – mother of two, living the Italy I plan for other families every day. That is not a coincidence. It is the foundation of everything I do.

My background is in hospitality and events. I spent years on the supplier side of the industry before I crossed to the planning side, which means when I negotiate accommodation for your family, I understand exactly how those conversations work from both directions. You get better terms, better placements, and better relationships with the properties you stay in because I have been in that room before.

Design Your Italy started in 2019, a deliberate decision to build something of my own after becoming a mother, balancing work with the kind of presence that motherhood demands. Every family I plan for is a family I understand.

Why families return closer, not just well-travelled.

Italy knowledge built over 15 years of living here

I plan across all 20 regions and research specifically for each family. Every property, guide, and experience I recommend is chosen because it fits – the pace, the interests, the mix of ages in the group, and the kind of Italy your family is looking for. That expertise comes from 15 years of living here, not from a fixed inventory I match families to.

One person, from first conversation to your return home

From the moment we speak to the day you land back, I handle everything. The accommodation, the logistics, the bookings, the details a family would never know to ask about. During the trip I remain available, not as a helpline, but as the person who designed every day and knows every supplier. Most families never need to contact me while they are away. That is exactly what I am building toward.

How it works

01 The Discovery Call

We start with a 30-minute conversation. I want to understand your family before I suggest anything - where you want to go, how you travel, what genuinely excites each person in the group and what you are hoping to avoid. That call shapes everything that follows.

02.Building Your Itinerary

From the questionnaire I build an overall framework - a routing, a rhythm, a direction. The detailed planning then happens in stages, and each stage is a separate conversation and a separate approval. Accommodation first, because where you stay shapes everything else. Then logistics. Then experiences, food and wine. Nothing moves forward until you are confident the previous layer is right. The itinerary evolves as it is built , a better experience sometimes becomes possible once I know your exact base, and I research specifically for your family at every stage, not just at the start.

03 Your Trip, Handled

By the time you travel, every detail has been confirmed and every booking is in place. You receive a complete day-by-day itinerary document — everything you need, nothing you have to figure out on arrival. From that point, Italy is yours. You show up. The rest has been taken care of.

Effortless, even when it was complex.

"Vanya was professional, capable and remarkably helpful throughout the travel-planning process. She is 100 per cent of the reason our family had an incredible time in Italy. To be clear, we didn't always make it easier on her -multiple cities, change of plans and some challenges with key decisions. Despite this, she always made it easy on us. Her ability to identify great accommodations and find amazing guides curated to our specific interests was simply amazing. We always knew she was there for us if we needed anything. If I was taking another trip to Italy, Vanya would be my first call."

All of our interests, woven into one perfect trip.

"Working with Vanya was a fabulous experience. She created an incredible itinerary, taking into account all my family's interests and had every aspect covered. She provided maps and photos and was available our entire time in Italy. The bike tour and hot air balloon rides were highlights, and our private guides were first class. To say our 10-day trip went off without a hitch is saying a lot!"

An AMAZING, effortless luxury experience

"I don’t typically write reviews, but wanted in Vanya’s case. My family of four just returned from an AMAZING 12 day luxury trip to Italy that Vanya helped plan. She is very thorough and keeps you accountable which I appreciated. She stayed in contact even after everything was planned until we returned from the trip. Highly recommend her!"

No request was too unusual.

"Vanya helped our family plan an unforgettable trip to Trentino. She was always responsive and happy to go the extra mile, even with our fairly unusual requests. I recommend her"

One of the best holidays we have ever had.

"Vanya planned our 1-month family holiday throughout Italy on very short notice, organising everything. Even while travelling, she would check in to help with last-minute plans. She was very patient and helped make our holiday one of the best we have ever had. We will use Vanya each time we go to Italy from now on!"

The Investment

My planning fee for a family 10-day Italy trip begins at $2,500+

My planning fee starts at $2,500 for a trip of up to 10 days for a family of up to six people. Longer trips and larger groups are quoted with a surcharge on the base fee – we confirm the exact figure on the planning call before anything is agreed.

The fee covers the full design, research, logistics, and coordination of your trip. Bookings are handled in two ways depending on the supplier – some are direct links I send you to complete yourself, others are arranged by email with you copied in throughout. Either way, nothing is confirmed without your knowledge and approval.

There are no hidden costs. Accommodation, experiences, and transfers are paid directly and separately. My fee is purely for the planning, the curation, and the coordination.

The perfect fit

This IS for you if...

✓ You value the experience over the cost of planning it

✓ You are ready to invest in a trip that is genuinely worth it

✓ You want someone with deep Italy expertise to handle the planning entirely

This is NOT for you if

✕ You prefer to plan independently

✕  You prefer large group tours

✕  You aren’t ready to fully engage and invest in the experience.

Your questions, answered

Because everything starts with your family specifically — not a template applied to you. Before I design anything, I want to understand who is in the group, what genuinely excites each person, what has disappointed you on previous trips, and what you are hoping this one feels like. That information is the foundation of every decision I make.

The families I work with span ages from six to twenty-seven. Wide age ranges, different energy levels, different ideas of a perfect day. What makes it work is not finding activities everyone tolerates, it is designing days where each person has at least one moment that feels built for them. A nine-year-old and a grandmother joining for a day trip in Tuscany are not competing priorities. They are two separate briefs within one trip, and I design for both.

The proof is in the families who come back. Some have travelled with me every year for six years. That does not happen because the first trip was adequate. It happens because it was exactly right.

As involved as you want to be. Some families arrive with a detailed vision and want me to execute it precisely. Others say “we want northern Italy, active, not touristy, you decide the rest” and hand me complete creative control. Both work. What does not work is me designing in isolation without understanding what matters to you.

The process starts with a planning call where I ask the questions that matter –  not just destinations and dates, but how your family travels, what has disappointed you before, and what would make this trip feel unlike anything you have done. From there the planning happens in stages, each one a separate conversation and a separate approval. Accommodation first, then logistics, then experiences and food. Nothing moves forward until you are confident the previous layer is right.

You bring the vision and the knowledge of your family. I bring the Italy expertise and the end-to-end execution. That division of responsibility is what makes the process feel effortless on your side, and what ensures the result feels completely yours.

This is the question I spend the most time on, and the one I enjoy most. The assumption is that different ages mean compromise. In my experience, they mean a more interesting brief. A family with a six-year-old and a seventeen-year-old is not asking me to find the middle ground. They are asking me to design a trip where both of them have moments that feel personally chosen.

Before I design anything, I ask questions. Every member of the group is considered individually –  their interests, their energy levels, what genuinely excites them and what loses them completely. For larger or multigenerational groups I ask each person to rank their interests by priority, so when two family members want different things on the same day, I already know how to balance it.

The itinerary is then built from that information, not from a list of activities I rotate between families. Your specific tastes are not a complication. They are the brief.

I stay available throughout your trip, not as a call centre, but as the person who designed every day and knows every supplier. A delayed transfer, a last-minute change, an unexpected situation – it becomes my problem to solve, not yours. You do not spend your holiday managing problems. That is my job.

In practice, most of what could go wrong is identified and resolved before you travel. The detail-work that happens in the planning stage – checking logistics, flagging conflicts, building in alternatives – means genuine surprises are rare. When they do happen, you have someone in your corner who already knows the full picture.

One family travelled with me across multiple cities with several last-minute changes and some challenging decisions along the way. Their review afterwards: “She always made it easy on us. If I was taking another trip to Italy, Vanya would be my first call.” That is the standard I work to.

Most families who come to me have been to Italy before. They know Rome. They know Florence. They have had good trips. What brings them here is the gap between a good trip and one that felt completely right –  for every age, for the whole duration, without the moments where the day felt like it belonged to a different family.

There are two things I bring that self-planning cannot replicate. The first is fifteen years of living in Italy – the judgement to know which options are right for your specific family rather than generically well-reviewed, and the on-the-ground relationships that mean my recommendations are based on direct knowledge, not a listing.

The second is access. Some experiences I plan are not publicly available – private after-hours visits to iconic sites, exclusive access to museums and private villas through relationships built over years. These are not things you find by searching. They exist because of who you know and how long you have been here. That combination of expertise and access is what makes the difference between a trip you planned well and one you could not have planned yourself.

If you have read this far, you already know the Italy your family wants.

The direction, the feeling, the experiences that would make this trip genuinely different from anything you have done before. What I do is take that vision and make it real — for every age in the group, across every day of the trip, with every detail managed before you arrive.

The next step is a conversation. No obligation, no generic proposals. Just thirty minutes to talk about your family, your vision, and whether I am the right person to bring it to life.
